Gracie Trotter Makes History as the First Woman to Win ARCA-Sanctioned Race

In the 68-year history of ARCA Racing, the highest finish for a female has been second. Only 19 years old, North Carolina native Gracie Trotter made history this past weekend. Trotter became the first woman driver to win an ARCA race. Exceeding her own expectations Trotter’s win is even more special because this is just her first year in ARCA racing.

Considering her first year a “big learning year” Trotter is excited to have such a start by winning the ARCA Menards West race Saturday at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Although Trotter is still surprised by the outcome, she is not new to the racing world.

A third-generation racer, Trotter drives for Bill McAnally Racing. She began competing in go-karts at the age of 8. She was also the first female to win the Young Lions Legends Cars division at Charlotte Motor Speedway, earning the title in 2017. Trotter also competes for Rev Racing as part of the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program.

Leading 95 of the 150 laps to take home first place, Trotter has a bright future in racing ahead of her. Trotter may have been the first but she won’t be the last. As women continue to make their way into the racing world, we can look forward to seeing Gracie Trotter and others leaving their mark on speedways nationwide.
