Meet Our New Intern: Asia McCants

If you visited the site last week, you may have noticed that we had someone new writing for us.  She gave you some great ideas about what to get the GladiatHers® in your life this holiday season. Well, her name is Asia McCants and besides being an awesome blogger, she’s a GladiatHer® in her own right.  So get to know her:

Asia is a freshman Guard at on Howard University’s Women’s Basketball team.  She hails from Woodbridge, VA where she graduated from Woodbridge Senior High.  While at Woodbridge she started on the Varsity Girls’ Basketball Team all four years and captained the team for three years.  In her first three years on the team she was a two-time Team MVP, a two-time Viking Pride Award Winner, a two-time 2nd Team All-Conference and Top 5 scorer in her Region.  As if those accolades weren’t enough, she really cranked up the excellence in her senior year.  She won Conference Player of The Year, clinched the 1st in Scoring title in her Region, was named 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-State, 3rd Team All-Met and McDonalds All-American Nominee.  Yeah, she’s the truth.

While ball is clearly life for Asia, other things are too.  In the midst of shining on the basketball court, she also managed to graduate from high school with a 4.5 GPA and to volunteer in her community on a regular basis.  Although she hasn’t quite declared her major, Asia is clear about her passion for sports and having an impact in this world.  We have no doubt that great things are to come.  Be sure to check the site and HUBison.com regularly to watch as her greatness unfolds.  Follow her on Twitter @WilsonAndKicks.
